Katrina Clements
Katrina Clements is 18 years old and was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has been home schooled all her life. She began musical studies with piano lessons at age six. Two years later she took up clarinet, which she has loved ever since.
Katrina has been a member of the Mid-Rio Grande Home School Band for ten years. She auditioned and was selected for the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program for seven years. She has toured with AYS to Chicago, Colorado and Australia which included a performance at the Sydney Opera House. Other musical accomplishments include winning Grand Prize at the 2009 Santa Fe Pro Musica Young Artist’s Scholarship Competition, performing as one of the 2009-2010 AYS Concerto Competition winners and being selected as the 2010 Bruce Kroken Memorial Scholarship Recipient.
Katrina plans to continue her musical studies at the University of New Mexico this fall where she will be majoring in Music Education. She would like to thank Michael Bowen and the New Life Symphony Orchestra Southwest for giving her this wonderful opportunity; her private teacher, Lori Lovato, for her outstanding musical advice and inspiring her to discover the secrets of the clarinet; her parents and sister for loving and encouraging her throughout all her musical endeavors and her Lord and Savior without whom none of this would be possible.
